Geverifieerde ruling Fallen Feline #

Fallen Feline (§761)

You may react to Fallen Feline's play effect before a spell is named. Naming occurs on resolution of the triggered ability. Spells already on the chain when the ability resolves are unaffected; only spells put onto the chain after resolution are prohibited. Citaat uit de bron: “You can react to the play effect of Fallen Feline, before they've named a spell … Any spells already on the chain when Fallen Feline's ability resolves will be unaffected.”

Geverifieerde ruling Falling Star #

Falling Star

Falling Star is no longer a reflexive trigger. All targets are chosen upfront before anything resolves; the opponent can react before resolution; then each chosen unit takes 3 damage on resolution. The same unit may be chosen for both instances. Citaat uit de bron: “you pick all the targets up front, the other player can react before any of it resolves, and then each of the units affected take the damage on resolution”

Geverifieerde ruling Dragon Form #

Dragon Form

Dragon Form sets a unit's base Might to 5 via the Trait-Altering layer; existing arithmetic modifiers (e.g., Stupefy's -1) are applied in the Arithmetic layer. Layer evaluation is instantaneous—there is no window where the unit momentarily exists at 5 Might before the modifier is applied. A unit under both Dragon Form and Stupefy is immediately 4 Might; Fiora, Grand Duelist will not trigger. Citaat uit de bron: “this process happens instantaneously; there is no window while evaluating layers for the unit to see itself become 5 M and then go down to 4 M”

Geverifieerde ruling Heisho, Shell of the World #

Heisho, Shell of the World (§766., 767.)

While a spell or ability has at least one target that is a unit located at Heisho, Shell of the World, all instances of Deflect on all units are treated as inactive when paying costs for that spell or ability. This applies only to that specific spell or ability instance; a subsequent spell or ability targeting units not at Heisho must still pay for Deflect normally. Citaat uit de bron: “While your spell or ability chooses a unit at Heisho, Shell of the World, you ignore deflect while paying for the spell.”

Geverifieerde ruling Mel, Newly Awakened #

Mel, Newly Awakened (§375.)

When Stupefy (give -1M, minimum 1M) is cast while an empowered Mel, Newly Awakened is in play, Mel's replacement effect changes the -1M to -2M, but the replaced event inherits Stupefy's "to a minimum of 1M" modifier. A replacement effect inherits any modifications applied by the game effect that generated the replaced event, so a 2M unit becomes 1M. Citaat uit de bron: “a replacement effect that replaces an event modified by the game effect that generated that event will inherit any of those modifications”

Geverifieerde ruling Baited Hook #

Baited Hook (187.4.c example) (§187.4.c)

When Baited Hook resolves, kills the targeted unit (the sole unit at a battlefield), and the player plays a unit from the top 5 cards, that unit goes pending on the chain. The outstanding cleanup cannot strip battlefield control while a chain item is pending, so the finalized unit can be played to the same battlefield where the kill occurred. Citaat uit de bron: “I can't lose control of the battlefield because the played unit is on the chain pending”

Geverifieerde ruling Rumble, Hotheaded #

Rumble, Hotheaded

Rumble, Hotheaded can choose a Mech token to recycle. Tokens inherit the recycle destination of their type—a token that is a unit or gear is recycled to the Main Deck. The token then vanishes (as tokens do whenever they leave the board), but it still counts as 'the unit you recycled,' so Rumble can check its Might. Citaat uit de bron: “tokens 'inherit' the recycle destination of their type(s), so a token that's a unit or gear is recycled to your Main Deck… it still counts as 'the unit you recycled' and Rumble can check its Might.”

Geverifieerde ruling Reflection #

Zilean + Deceiver (no infinite token loop)

When Deceiver's reflexive trigger copies Zilean, Time Mage, the two Reflection tokens resolve and become copies of Zilean. However, there is no subsequent 'play token' game action for Zilean's replacement effect to apply to, so no further tokens are produced and the loop does not repeat. Citaat uit de bron: “there is no subsequent play game action involving tokens to apply their replacement effects to”

Geverifieerde ruling Akshan, Mischievous #

Akshan, Mischievous (§370.1.b.1.)

When Akshan, Mischievous steals Shady Spectacles and his controller chooses to copy Aphelios, Aphelios's triggered ability does not trigger. The attach event has already completed before the copy effect is applied, so Aphelios's new triggered ability (gained via copy) cannot react to an attachment event that already occurred. Geverifieerde ruling Legion #

Legion (§419.4.b)

Legion checks whether cards were finalized by an opponent, not whether an opponent controls a spell that resolves. A spell finalized by an opponent but subsequently taken over via Rebuttal still counts as finalized by the opponent, so Legion abilities remain active. Citaat uit de bron: “Battering Ram and Legion … check whether cards were finalized. Although you gained control of Stupefy, you did not finalize it; you got it after it was already finalized by your opponent.”

Geverifieerde ruling Elder Dragon #

Elder Dragon (§460.2.c.3)

Elder Dragon's passive ('Any amount of your damage is enough to kill enemy units') alters the lethal damage threshold for units with damage marked by Elder Dragon's controller to any non-zero amount. As a result, Elder Dragon can check damage marked on units before it enters the board, and its controller need only assign one damage per unit during the Combat Damage step. Geverifieerde ruling Perched Grimwyrm #

Perched Grimwyrm (§054.2., 369.3.)

If Perched Grimwyrm cannot be legally finalized (no valid play location due to its own restriction), all actions taken as part of playing it are undone and it is returned to the zone it was played from. If you have conquered a different battlefield this turn you may play it there without paying Dragon Roost's additional cost, but not to Dragon Roost itself unless you've conquered it. Geverifieerde ruling Mel, Newly Awakened #

Mel, Newly Awakened

If an opponent plays Abandon targeting your spell while you control an empowered Mel, Newly Awakened, Abandon attempts to counter the spell and fails. Abandon's return-to-hand replacement effect has nothing to replace because the "put in Trash" event never occurred. Abandon resolves with only the Predict effect. The replacement effect does not linger—if the spell resolves later, it goes to the Trash as normal. Citaat uit de bron: “that event never occurred, so there is nothing for the replacement effect to replace. Thus, Abandon will resolve to no effect.”

Geverifieerde ruling Flow #

Flow

A spell played for its Flow cost is banished even if countered by Abandon. "Then banish it" means: if the flow spell would leave the chain after becoming a finalized chain item, and leaving the chain was not instructed by the spell's own execution, banish it instead. Abandon returning the spell to hand counts as such a departure, so the spell is banished rather than returned. This also applies to effects like Kai'Sa, Evolutionary and Fizz, Trickster. Citaat uit de bron: “No matter how it happens, as long as the flow spell leaving the chain wasn't instructed by the execution of the spell itself, it will be banished.”

Gangplank, Naval (§477.3.b)

If Stupefy is played on an empowered Gangplank, Naval who has exactly 1M, the -M value snapshots to -0M, meaning no actual -M event is generated. With no suitable event to replace, Gangplank's replacement effect does not trigger. Citaat uit de bron: “In the case of Stupefy played on a 1 M unit, no -M is given; it is snapshot to -0 M. Geverifieerde ruling Baron Nashor #

Baron Nashor (§054.2., 369.3.)

Baron Nashor's passive generates a delayed replacement effect ('I enter there') that replaces his entering any other location with entering the Baron Pit, bypassing play-location restrictions such as Mageseeker Warden. Dragon Roost is only a permission on play location, not a replacement effect, and therefore cannot bypass such restrictions. Citaat uit de bron: “Baron Nashor's passive ability generates a delayed replacement effect...This replacement effect replaces the event of him entering to any other location with him entering to the Baron Pit.”

Geverifieerde ruling Ravenbloom Student #

Ravenbloom Student (§419.4)

Ravenbloom Student's triggered ability checks whether a spell you control resolves, not whether you finalized it. Gaining control of an opponent's already-finalized spell (e.g., via Rebuttal on Stupefy) still causes the ability to trigger when that spell resolves.
