Geverifieerde ruling naming #

naming (§761)

When naming a card or tag in Riftbound, you cannot name something that does not exist in Riftbound. You may identify a card by any information that uniquely identifies it (not just its printed name). If the identifier is ambiguous—e.g., saying only 'Kai'Sa' when multiple Kai'Sa cards exist—no card has been named. Citaat uit de bron: “you can't name something that doesn't exist in Riftbound … As long as there is no ambiguity as to what card is being named, a player can use whatever method is clear to their opponents and teammates.”

Geverifieerde ruling Flow #

Flow

A spell played for its Flow cost is banished even if countered by Abandon. "Then banish it" means: if the flow spell would leave the chain after becoming a finalized chain item, and leaving the chain was not instructed by the spell's own execution, banish it instead. Abandon returning the spell to hand counts as such a departure, so the spell is banished rather than returned. This also applies to effects like Kai'Sa, Evolutionary and Fizz, Trickster. Citaat uit de bron: “No matter how it happens, as long as the flow spell leaving the chain wasn't instructed by the execution of the spell itself, it will be banished.”

Kayle, Justified

Kayle's empower ability can be activated any number of times, even when she already has 3 empowered statuses. If she is already at 3, the ability resolves legally but has no effect. Geverifieerde ruling zones #

play from deck (banish first)

Cards that instruct you to play a card from your Main Deck must first banish that card, then play it from banish. This gives the game a defined zone for the card while it is being played and a place to return it if it cannot be played for any reason. This applies to Rek'Sai Swarm Queen, Void Burrower, Void Rush, and Reinforce. Citaat uit de bron: “banishing the card ensures that the game has a place to put the card until it's actually played, and a place to send the card back to if it can't be played”

Geverifieerde ruling Kato the Arm #

Kato the Arm

Kato gives his current keywords and his current Might as a bonus at the moment the ability resolves. Later changes to Kato (gained keywords, Might changes) don't affect what the target unit received; it is locked in at resolution. Citaat uit de bron: “Kato gives his current keywords and additional Might equal to his current Might to the unit you choose. Later changes to Kato don't matter; what the unit gets is locked in as the ability resolves.”

Geverifieerde ruling 437.2.a #

Counter Strike vs. Elder Dragon (§437.2.a)

If Counter Strike (or any prevent effect) completely prevents Elder Dragon's 1 damage to a unit, that damage is never dealt per rule 437.2.a. Since no damage is dealt, Elder Dragon's passive ability—which redefines lethal damage thresholds for units that have damage marked on them by its controller—has no opportunity to apply to that unit. Citaat uit de bron: “If the damage is entirely prevented, it is never dealt per rule 437.2.a., and thus there is no opportunity for the passive ability of Elder Dragon to apply”

Geverifieerde ruling Baited Hook #

Baited Hook (187.4.c example) (§187.4.c)

When Baited Hook resolves, kills the targeted unit (the sole unit at a battlefield), and the player plays a unit from the top 5 cards, that unit goes pending on the chain. The outstanding cleanup cannot strip battlefield control while a chain item is pending, so the finalized unit can be played to the same battlefield where the kill occurred. Citaat uit de bron: “I can't lose control of the battlefield because the played unit is on the chain pending”

Geverifieerde ruling Rumble, Hotheaded #

Rumble, Hotheaded

Rumble, Hotheaded can choose a Mech token to recycle. Tokens inherit the recycle destination of their type—a token that is a unit or gear is recycled to the Main Deck. The token then vanishes (as tokens do whenever they leave the board), but it still counts as 'the unit you recycled,' so Rumble can check its Might. Citaat uit de bron: “tokens 'inherit' the recycle destination of their type(s), so a token that's a unit or gear is recycled to your Main Deck… it still counts as 'the unit you recycled' and Rumble can check its Might.”

Geverifieerde ruling Akshan, Mischievous #

Akshan, Mischievous (§370.1.b.1.)

When Akshan, Mischievous steals Shady Spectacles and his controller chooses to copy Aphelios, Aphelios's triggered ability does not trigger. The attach event has already completed before the copy effect is applied, so Aphelios's new triggered ability (gained via copy) cannot react to an attachment event that already occurred. Citaat uit de bron: “if his controller chooses to make him a copy of Aphelios, it's too late by that point for his new triggered ability to see the attachment event”

Geverifieerde ruling Icathian Rain #

Icathian Rain

Icathian Rain is no longer a reflexive trigger. All six targets are chosen upfront before anything resolves; the opponent can react before resolution; then each chosen unit takes 2 damage on resolution. Geverifieerde ruling Baron Nashor #

Baron Nashor (§054.2., 369.3.)

Baron Nashor's passive generates a delayed replacement effect ('I enter there') that replaces his entering any other location with entering the Baron Pit, bypassing play-location restrictions such as Mageseeker Warden. Dragon Roost is only a permission on play location, not a replacement effect, and therefore cannot bypass such restrictions. Heisho, Shell of the World (§766., 767.)

While a spell or ability has at least one target that is a unit located at Heisho, Shell of the World, all instances of Deflect on all units are treated as inactive when paying costs for that spell or ability. This applies only to that specific spell or ability instance; a subsequent spell or ability targeting units not at Heisho must still pay for Deflect normally. Cards that Reduce Might
